Fences & Gates
A fence is mostly a row of posts, and posts are where fences fail. Wet ground, poor drainage, and a gate that gets used four times a day put real load on a structure most people treat as decoration. We set posts to last and build gates that still latch in year eight.

What’s included
- Cedar privacy, picket, lattice-top, and horizontal styles
- Custom gates with proper bracing and hardware
- Post replacement and section repair
- Property line and setback verification
- Staining and sealing
- Removal and disposal of the old fence
Every job carries our ten-year workmanship warranty, a fixed written price, and one lead carpenter from demolition to walkthrough.
Posts set for wet ground
We dig below the frost line, use the right concrete detail for the soil we hit, and crown the top so water sheds away from the post instead of pooling around it. In heavy clay we adjust the drainage detail. This is why our fences do not lean after three winters.
Gates get built like doors
A gate is a door that lives outside. Ours are cross-braced against sag, hung on heavy hardware, and sized with the right clearance for a fence that will move seasonally. If you want a wide drive gate, we will talk through hardware and post sizing before quoting it.
We check the line before we dig
Fence disputes with neighbours are miserable and entirely avoidable. We locate the property line, confirm setbacks and height limits with the local jurisdiction, and call for utility locates before any post hole gets dug.
Questions
Common questions
- How tall can my fence be?
- Most local rules cap back-yard fences around six feet and front-yard fences lower, with extra restrictions near corners and driveways for sight lines. We confirm the limits for your address before building.
- Can you match my existing fence?
- Usually. Bring us a photo of a section and we will match the profile, spacing, and post style closely enough that a repair does not read as a patch.
- Who owns the fence on a shared line?
- That is between you and your neighbour, and we stay out of it — but we are happy to build to whatever you have agreed, and to work from an agreed line rather than an assumed one.
