Why homeowners hire us
The boring parts, done properly
Most residential construction goes wrong on scheduling, communication, and pricing — not on craftsmanship. So that is where we over-invest.
Licensed in both states
Oregon CCB and Washington L&I, bonded and insured, with certificates available before you sign anything.
Fixed price, written down
The estimate is the price. Changes only happen when you approve them in writing, and they never arrive as a surprise on the final invoice.
One lead carpenter
The same person is on your project from demolition to walkthrough. You are never explaining your house to somebody new.
Photographed as we go
Waterproofing, flashing, framing repairs — anything that gets covered up gets documented first, and the photos are yours.
Schedules we hold to
We order long-lead items before demolition and we do not start a job we cannot staff. Fewer projects at once, finished when we said.
Ten-year workmanship warranty
In writing, transferable to the next owner. It is a straightforward promise because we would rather build it correctly once.

Projects around the metro
What we found when we opened the walls, what we did about it, and what it cost in time.
Kitchen RemodelingCraftsman Kitchen, Opened to the Back of the House
Alameda, Portland, OR9 weeks on site
A 1922 Craftsman with a kitchen closed off from the rest of the ground floor. We took out a bearing wall, rebuilt the layout around a working island, and kept the house's proportions intact.
StuccoStucco Restoration After Hidden Water Damage
Vancouver, WA7 weeks on site
Cracking that two other contractors had quoted as a patch job turned out to be a drainage failure. We opened the wall, corrected the assembly, and re-stuccoed.
Decks & Outdoor StructuresMulti-Level Cedar Deck on a Sloped Lot
Sellwood, Portland, OR4 weeks on site
A steep back yard that had never really been usable, turned into two connected deck levels with stairs down to the garden.
How it works
Five steps, no surprises
From the first call to the walkthrough, you always know what happens next and who is doing it.
- 01
Call or send the form
Tell us what you are trying to do. If it is not work we do well, we will say so and point you at someone who does — that costs us a job and saves you a bad one.
- 02
We walk the site
Usually within a week. We look at what is actually there, not just what you want built, and we open something up if we need to see behind it before quoting.
- 03
A fixed written price
Line by line, with allowances stated plainly and a contingency for anything an old house is likely to be hiding. No hourly numbers that drift.
- 04
We build it
One lead carpenter owns your project start to finish. You get a schedule you can read, a clean site at the end of each day, and photos of anything that gets covered up.
- 05
Walkthrough and warranty
We walk the finished work together and fix the punch list before we invoice the balance. Our workmanship is warranted for ten years.
What clients say
Referrals are most of our work
Which is only possible if the last job went the way we said it would.
They gave us a schedule at the start and then actually held to it, which after two previous remodels I had stopped believing was possible. When they opened the wall and found the old knob-and-tube, we got photos the same afternoon and a price before anyone touched it. No drama, no invoice we hadn't agreed to.
Dana R.Alameda, Portland Two other companies quoted me a patch job. This crew opened up one corner first and showed me the framing was wet — the cracking was a symptom, not the problem. It turned into a bigger project than I wanted, but they were right, and I would rather have found out from a contractor than from a home inspector in five years.
Marcus T.Vancouver, WA Our only bathroom, so I was dreading it. They sequenced the work so we kept a usable toilet for all but four days and told us exactly which days those would be, a week ahead. The photos of every waterproofing layer before it got covered were a nice touch — I know what's behind that tile.
