Paint fails from bad preparation far more often than from bad paint. On an exterior in this climate, the surface underneath and the timing of the application matter more than the brand on the can. We price the preparation honestly, which sometimes makes our bid higher and the result longer-lived.

Preparation is where the money goes
Washing, scraping, sanding, priming bare wood, and caulking every joint takes far longer than rolling the finish coat. It is also the only reason one paint job lasts ten years and the next one peels in three. If a bid seems cheap, this is what was removed from it.
Exteriors get painted in the right window
Paint applied to damp siding or below the product's minimum temperature will fail regardless of quality. We schedule exteriors for the dry stretch and check moisture rather than assuming a dry-looking day is enough.
Cabinets are sprayed, not brushed
A brushed cabinet always looks brushed. We degrease, sand, prime, and spray with a finish built for cabinetry, which gives a hard, smooth surface that survives being opened several thousand times a year.

Common questions
- How long does an exterior repaint take?
- A typical house runs one to two weeks, and preparation is most of it. Larger homes, heavy scraping, or significant rot repair extend that.
- Do you do lead-safe work on older houses?
- Yes. Homes built before 1978 fall under the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule and we follow lead-safe practices for containment and cleanup. This is not optional and any contractor who waves it off should worry you.
- Can you help pick colours?
- We will put large sample areas on the actual wall and look at them across a full day. Colour behaves so differently under Portland's overcast light than under a showroom's that small chips are close to useless.
